Battle in the Bay 8 December 2011,

After one of our busiest seasons ever, the ExPix team finished off 2011 by heading down to Colwyn Leisure Centre, Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay in North Wales in December to cover Battle in the Bay 8.

Student Kitesurfing Association, SKA, Tricks for Chicks at Watergate Bay

Just two weeks after their first event of the 2011 - 2012 season, the Student Kitesurfing Association, SKA, were out in force once more on the beaches, this time hosting the first of their ladies only clinics, 'Tricks for Chicks' held at Watergate Bay, Cornwall.

After receiving very positive feedback from the chicks clinics in 2010 and being inundated with requests from female students to hold more clinics, the SKA responded with this, the first of two ladies only clinics that the SKA will hold in the 2011 - 2012 academic year. Organised by the SKA and hosted by the Extreme Academy, 'Tricks for chicks' was all about helping female riders improve their kite surfing skills, learn new tricks and progress through the sport in a fun, friendly and relaxed environment.

Always on the look out for something new to report on, ExPix headed down to Colwyn Bay, North Wales in October 2011 to cover Battle in the Bay 7; a night of MMA and kickboxing action. Whilst MMA isn't something our readers usually see on the ExPix site, ExPix aren't exactly new to this area; we've been involved with martial arts for over 10 years and have done shoots with the likes of The Ultimate Fighter winner, Ross 'The Real Deal' Pearson, Next Generation fighter and Cage Warriors Female Title holder, Rosi Sexton and Leeds Cage fighter, Lisa Highgo. MMA is a different area of extreme sports but as a contact sport we think it's definitely extreme and certainly takes the same amount of time and dedication to be able to compete at any level.

WOW !!!! ZERO TO HERO what a weekend! The SKA pulled it out of the bag with an amazing event for kite virgins. With the focus on kite skills and safety as well as having an enjoyable first time experience the Student Kitesurf Association proved just what they can achieve. With support from ourselves here at ExPix, Flexifoil and Mystic the student kitesurf events are looking very strong for the future! Leeds Met Wakeboarding Presents FreshWake

When the President of the Athletic Union, (A.U.) says jump the correct response should be, how high? And if he wants you to set up a new sports club you do it, right? Well you certainly do if you're a Leeds Met student! And so began Leeds Met Wakeboarding!

Our good friends from Blast were on it once again the other week with another event; this time a girls only weekend in Porthcawl.

It's always good to work with these guys so already being in the area over the weekend ExPix dropped in to say hello and grabbed a few action pics of the girls. It was a real shame the wind decided not to show but that didn't stop Blast organising some other fun on the water!

Now in its 13^th year and growing all the time, Windfest has built itself up to be one of the biggest multi sports festivals in the UK. Well supported by riders and athletes and as one of the few free festivals, Windfest continues to appeal to the public.

With an estimated 15,000 people defying the bad forecast Windfest 2011 was once again a big hit.

Billed as being “all about good times, healthy lifestyle, chilled beach culture and a cool festival vibe”, Glass Butter Beach is the newest festival on the extreme sports scene, so naturally ExPix just had to get involved. Taking place in Llanbedrog, North Wales the festival was based at the secluded end of the stunning Llanbedrog beach. With the site on the beach side of the road in the Crugan Farm fields, campers were able to enjoy some of the most stunning festival scenery with views over Cardigan Bay across to Snowdonia.

It was that time again when we give the ExPix crew their biggest mission of the year; get great images and film footage of an extreme sports event, and oh yea, it’s all in the dark! So if you haven’t already guessed it we’re talking London Night Jump.

Now it its 10^th year London Night Jump, held at Liquid Leisure Waterski and Wakeboard Park in Datchet, Berkshire still attracts the world’s best ski jumpers all wanting to prove that they’ve got what it takes to hit the ramps in pitch black conditions.

Ali Barrett and Hannah Whiteley, our ExPix kitesurfing team riders took part in the British Kitesurf Championship the other week; this time it was back to Hunstanton for the Lifestyles Event. Hannah was looking for a win to give her a secure lead over fellow competitors in her fight to retain the British Championship title and Ali wanted to get back on the podium to bag some much needed points after his Uni course so 'rudely' interrupted his challenge when an exam set for the Friday meant that Ali was unable to compete at Barrow. As usual ExPix were there to offer Hannah and Ali some support and to document their efforts.
