Welsh Surf Nationals 2009 - Expix Surfing Photography

Well its the first May Bank Holiday Weekend of 2009 and we were missioning down to some surf comps around the UK. The Welsh have a history of having some awesome conditions so we headed up from Cornwall to take a look.

We had already missed Saturday's great conditions due to heading down to the English Nationals in Cornwall but would the Sunday produce more of the same or would it be a wash out?

We arrived at around 11.00am to find the competition well under way. after the Saturdays almost classic conditions the organisors had decided to surf late on the Saturday and early on the Sunday in the hope of finishing the competition before the swell disappeared.

The swell was already beginning to be blown out as the wind picked up. However the riders were still finding waves even if they were a little mushy!

The competition ran throughout the day on both the north and South Peaks. this made it difficult for us to cover all the heats but we concentrated on the South Peak as we could gain a better angle looking more down the line than on the North Peak.
