Ten Feet High At Sheffield Cable Park - Wakeboarding & Wakeskating

Well after a mad drive up from Swansea Bay (we were still on the beach at 12.30) ExPix arrived in Sheffield at around 4.30 I didnt check becuase I wanted to get cracking taking images of the event. unfortunately I had missed the rookies and the ladies were just about to start.

So with no time to say hello to anyone I positioned myself ready for the next round.

Sheffield Cable Waterski is a great place to go for a free ride session .. its also good for comps too. The people who run this place are really up for a good time and the ethos of the place is based around fun and taking part.

Yeah they have a few comps but its more about getting people to have a go, learn and enjoy whilst pushing the sport in this area. With a few well known names appearing up here its good to see the southerners coming north for a bit of action and Yorkshire hospitality (and I'm from Lancs)

The set up is good too with camping allowed for events and a bar, BBQ area showers as well as the cable with kickers and sliders.

As rain stopped play (it was really heavy) and the wind whipped up the water into white caps the squalls pushed people towards the BBQ and the bar. This was however after all the heats had been run and the organisors were very lucky that the weather hadnt detracted from the overall fun of the comp.

I decided to call it a day at around 11 ish after photographing two events driving 260 miles and I still had to be up at 5am to drive down to Rhosneigr in North Wales for a windsurf event !

Anyway back to the important bit the results ...... and pics !

Great effort from the riders and not much to choose between the intermediates and the pro's on the day however the wind was up and down and the rain at time lashing down. It kept things real and difficult for the riders some of who really impressed with big raileys, hitting the A frame and fun box along with a range of other top moves. Looks like the rest of this years comps are gonna be good to watch.
