Think Tank Ten 80 - Jet Ski's, Skateboarding & Wakeboarding

8P1C25328P1C2529After bringing the system 2 from FISE for the Think Tank we thought we should go down to take a few pics of the cable in action. Qualifying was on Thursday but after the previous weekend and a round trip of 2000 miles in 5 days we decided to have an extra day in the office 8P1C4941band arrived on Friday just after dinner. The action was already in full swing with the jetski ploughing up and down the lake at Ten80 pulling the riders onto the custom built obstacles.

We dragged the cameras out of the van and set to work shooting the action.

8P1C2560aThink Tank is a different type of event in that its not a competition as such. its more of a jam session similar to what skateboarders do when they just ride in a group. The idea behind Think Tank is to gather as many of the best riders as they can ..... add in  few ams and ride. With a host of photographers and camera crews around it pushes the sport, creates media and provides a medium for the riders to show what they can do ........ all good !!

8P1C2674aSo bearing in mind we have already mentioned skateboards, Think Tank also tries to be as true its origins as possible, yeah its on the water but it is essentially the same tricks as skateboarding. To make it more realistic the obstacles were designed using 8P1C2884askateboard parks as their inspiration. The inclined rail, flat bar, the nike6.0 euro gap straight froma  a skate park, the yoshi box (up flat bar with a wall ride either side) and of course the stair with matching hubba rails and a metal hand rail down the middle, in fact the only thing that could not be taken from a skateboard park was the bouy!

So with 10 invites and 6 qualifiers already on the water it was a wait your turn for the jetski scenario, with the sun shinning, and the music playing the whole atmosphere was pretty chilled.

8P1C46858P1C41028P1C29668P1C47838P1C27558P1C2623a8P1C3011It interesting to note that the more experiened riders were watching and encouraging the younger and newer kids to the scene, helping them out with tips, or even cheers, the level got better and 8P1C3664better as Friday turned into Saturday. Confidence grew and more elaborate tricks were being tried ..... especially on the stairs.

8P1C36538P1C3325a8P1C31228P1C3562So with Sat night approaching and the night shoot session we were a little upset, annoyed ,.......... (trying to be polite here ) that we had to leave to go to another event. We did however 8P1C51328P1C5111mange to get 30 mins of the night session under our belt and it looked like it was going to produce some awesome images for the magazines.

So with the only prize for the best trick of the weekend going to Terry Hannan a special Nike 6.0 monkey winch which he won with a front side 180 to switch smith grind on the steel hand rail.
