Tantrum female studentExPix are in Sheffield this week as media partners and official photographers for the the BUCS Wakeboarding Nationals. The event is presented by Uniwake and hosted by Sheffield Waterski & Cable and sponsored by Relentless. With 94 competitors this has to be one of the biggest Wakeboard Competitions of the year and all credit is due to the hard work of the guys from Uniwake and Andy and the crew at Sheffield Waterski & Cable.

EG2D3698EG2D3922Monday saw the arrival of the students and by 11.15 there was already a big queue waiting to hit the cable for the practise sessions. With nearly 30 women registered it was noticeable that the queue was almost 50/50 men and women which is something we haven't seen before; again credit to Uniwake for promoting the sport so well within the unis and for getting so many female riders to compete.

The riding level was already proving to be good but with  riders still getting use to the lake and systems we're expecting big things when the competitions start later on in the week.

There were a number of good riders out on the water but one girl didn't want to ride. With the sun out and never wanting to miss an opportunity we managed to persuade/'bully' Kirsteen into riding a few laps. She almost managed to come off the water with her hair still dry, that was until she stacked a big S bend! We managed to get some good images but you will have to check out the galleries to see those!!

So the schedule for the week is: Tuesday  - Railey Clinics & Practice Sessions for both Boat and Cable, Wednesday - Boat Comp at Triton Lake, Thursday - Cable Comp

EG2D4544After the lake closed on Monday the staff manage to get a chance to ride and Buzza and Ben were on it ... We only had time for a couple of shots but when the weather is this good and we get a sunset like this who can complain.... Sheffield ???? really ??? could be anywhere in the world!

So as usual with all student events the parties are a big part of activities and Monday night proved to be no exception. Fancy dress combined with amazing skies made for some interesting imagery, add a little bit of strobe flash and we get three headed people .....weird ...but fun!

To view a small gallery of images from the first day click here you don't need to be register to view these!
