Setting off early on Saturday morning fully loaded with enough equipment to sink a battleship, the ExPix van made good time on its way down to Liquid Leisure for the Mastercraft London Night Jump fuelled by Monster. As media partners for the event this year, ExPix decided to try out  the new on site media base. Supplied by Canopies South West the industrial pop up Gazebo with it's black canvas proved to be a perfect addition as it meant that we could project images from the action throughout the day.

Back to Mastercraft London Night Jump Fuelled by Monster and to kick of the days running order was the cable wakeboard competition on the new system installed on the back lake at Liquid Leisure. With Tom Fooshee, Nick Davies, James Young, Ben Hitch, Gareth Stelfox, and Louis Cornwall among the names competing in the jam sessions there was gonna be some hot action on the water.

Heat one saw Nick Davies, Louis Cornwall, Matty Hassler, Kyle Cameron and Ben Hitch battling it out for the first two places in the final. Nick Davies made a mistake early on stacking a mobe 5 but got back on the water immediately and produced a couple of 9's, a 10 ben hitch at london night jump cable compnick davies at london night jump cable complouis cornwall at london night jump cable compdouble, s bend to blind to put the pressure on the others. Ben Hitch was riding aggressively and getting some major height off the kickers whilst Connor was trying to land his signature move 'conair' but couldn't quite make the landing, Louis Cornwall was also riding well and put down a few big tricks but just couldn't quite manage to match or stop Monster, Hyperlyte and Mystic rider Nick Davies and Ben Hitch progressing to the final from heat 1.

Heat 2 saw James Young take on Tom Fooshee, Cody Johnson, Connor Jones and Gareth Stelfox. As the guys in this heat battled it out there were a few more crashes as they tried to out ride each other with some massive airs and big technical tricks. The riders to go through to EG2D2771aEG2D2710aEG2D2704aface Nick Davies and Ben Hitch were Tom Fooshee and James Young with Gareth Stelfox just missing out despite his consistently smooth style.

So as the final got underway with riders Tom Fooshee, Nick Davies, Ben Hitch and JamesEG2D2831aEG2D2865a EG2D2615aEG2D2591aEG2D2559aEG2D2630aEG2D2786aEG2D2717aYoung, the pressure was on. Nick and Tom really pushed the limits it looked like a head to head between these two.

EG2D3112aWith the crowds beginning to arrive for the evening event all eyes were on the FMX display. The riders were jumping on a mobile unit with a newly branded Monster Mastercraft under the ramps. There isn't much we can say about this other than ..... crazy!!! take a look at the pics and EG2D3279aEG2D3269aEG2D3249aEG2D3263ayou'll see what we mean .

Immediately after this was the Mastercraft London Night Jump Wakeboard boat competition. As the floodlights lit up the lake, the 4 invited riders gave it all they'd got as they had one pass up and down the lake to pull their best tricks and really impress the crowd in the dark. Now this EG2D3306ais where it gets really difficult from a photographers point of view. With lighting at the top end of the course designed more for the ski jumpers its is difficult to photograph the wakeboarders who do most of their tricks further down the course. Even with a powerful flash the lighting doesn't look quite right when you're shooting from the shore.

EG2D3360aEG2D3320aEG2D3330aEG2D3386aThe same can be said for the finale of the night jump; the lighting is very difficult to handle especially as the ski jumpers move very quickly over the water to hit the ramp fast enough to project themselves over 60m. Moving around the course gave us the best opportunity to find a spot that worked in between the floodlights and the darkness and there are however some really sweet shots of the course. Now as you can imagine if we are having difficulty watching the course how do you think the jumpers coped trying to spot it to do their stuff? Well here a couple of shots from one guy, Claudio Kostenberger,  EG2D3368aEG2D3372aEG2D3374awho got it completely wrong and managed somehow to walk away from it and .... have another go ....respect !

EG2D3475aEG2D3476aThe finals carried on after this with last years winner Freddie Nightmare Krugger coming away as the victor and with the presentation from all the days competitions being done in front of the huge Liquid Leisure crowd, the event drew to a close ...... well almost .... there was still the VIP after party on the terrace but that's another story ....!!!!!!
