Starting out life as the National Windsurfing Festival (NWF) some 8 years ago; the NWF is going from strength to strength.
The festival which is based on Hayling Island is the brain child of organiser Allan Cross. Whilst initially a windsurfing festival, the decision was taken to include kayaking, kitesurfing and stand up paddle, (SUP) in the 2103 event and to change the name of the festival to National Watersports Festival (NWF).
With over 600 people from ages 8 to 81 taking part in watersports competitions, night racing, night tow-in and free taster sessions in windsurfing, kitesurfing, SUP and kayaking, and with free clinics by pro riders and instructors, and not forgetting the impressive support from the watersports industry who came out in force to line the beaches and the trade marquees, oh and the infamous parties; this festival certainly lived up to its claims of being and ‘an all-inclusive people festival’.
And the pro riders came out in force too for the NWF; 5 x PWA Freestyle Windsurf World Champion, Gollito Estredo put on an amazing display in the night tow-in session, whilst PKRA Freestyle Kitesurfing Champion, Youri Zoon, currently out with injury, was another of the many legendary names in the actions sports who gave his support to the event.
For the ExPix crew as well as using our regular kit, we got to put the Canon PowerShot D20 through its paces chance as we documented the event. Check out the images and video to see how this nifty piece of kit performs and for more information checkout the Canon PowerShot D20 product review.
So a sterling effort by Allan and his team;
