Whilst down in Cornwall for the Student Kitesurfing Association's Tricks for Chicks weekend, the Cribbar, Newquay's answer to Hawaii's big waves started to work. We've covered events in Cornwall for over 10 years and have somehow managed to miss this wave every time it fires!

With several professional big wave surfers eager to get some action on the waves, the tow ins began around 10am and continued all day.

ExPix were tied up initially finishing off at the chicks event so missed most of the morning and low tide sessions but headed over to the headland that over looks the reefs where the Cribbar breaks as soon as we could.

A rarely seen but huge reef break, the Cribbar breaks over a rock formation off the headland north of Fistral Beach and can be found when certain Atlantic swell conditions are right, approximately 1/2 mile offshore from Towan Head.

For ExPix it was a perfect opportunity to grab some sweet shots of this infamous wave in action, so we took postion alongside several hundred  people and watched as surfer Ben Skinner entertained us for an hour or so riding the big wave both left and right.

It was definitely worth the wait as we think you'll agree we you see the pics!
