The 2015 Nautique London Night Jump kicked off in spectacular style at Liquid Leisure over the August Bank Holiday weekend. To the backdrop of a magnificent magenta sunset, the Night Jump riders took to the water on Friday evening for a practise session behind the yellow and black Ski Nautique 200 boat making for some truly awesome images.

Whilst waiting for the night to set in, the Squibb Freestyle FMX display team got into action. Despite the rain lashing down, Jamie Squibb and his team mate threw down the moves, tail whipping to the cheers of the crowds.
Not wanting to be outdone by all the skiing action, Nautique sponsored rider Megan Baker, and Charlotte Bryant put on a wakeboarding demo. Riding behind the shiny red Super Air Nautique G21 wake boat and dressed in a red Power Rangers outfit, Meg showed that Nautique weren’t the only ones with the power! Between them Charlotte and Meg represented the ladies, showing that wakeboarding is alive and kicking in the female wakeboarding community.

As the sun set, darkness appeared and the highlight of the event took place; the 2015 Nautique London Night. Having competed in the ITC comp during the day, the Polish riders
Kamil Borysewicz, Krysztof Bernatowicz, and Erwin Zawadzki had to make the difficult transition to jumping at night, knowing first hand just how different the ramp looks in the dark. Whilst Kamil and Krysztof had taken 2nd and 3rd places respectively in the daytime comp, unfortunately they didn’t make it to the podium this time.
And it wasn’t plain sailing for the seasoned pros either. London Night Jump champion, American Freddy Krueger had something of a mare, with his best jump of the night 60.1m not being enough to give him his 6th consecutive win. Frustratingly for Freddy he had jumped further in the preliminary rounds.
But where there is disappointment for one, there’s a happy ending for another as Ryan Dodd from Canada once again claimed the London Night Jump title with a jump of 64.4m saying “It’s a long time since I’ve held this” as he was presented with the London Night Jump trophy.

Other outstanding performances came from British skier Jack Critchley. In his first ever London Night Jump, Jack notched up an impressive 57.3m giving him 4th place overall. Who knows maybe one day we’ll see a Brit take the London Night Jump title!
