Ryan KindnessSo what do you do if you’re a BMXer that lives in Australia and you want to take part in an event in China, you can’t find the information you want on the event website and trying to contact the event organisers in France hasn’t worked?

You contact ExPix in the UK!

That’s what Rob and Loretta Kindness did when they were looking for information about FISE China for their BMX mad son, 13 year old Rylan who wanted to compete in the Junior event.

Rob said, “We really wanted to go to FISE China but were struggling to get the information we needed off the FISE website to enable us to make the necessary travel arrangements. We tried calling and emailing the organisers but that didn’t help. Time was running out as we hadn’t booked any accommodation and needed to be near the venue but we didn’t know where this was. So in a last bid desperate attempt we contacted ExPix for help. We’d seen that ExPix had the event listed in their Events Calendar so we thought we’d give them a try and see if they could get the information for us.

ExPix went out of their way to contact FISE on our behalf and managed to get us maps and the information we needed; the address for the venue where the comp was being held which was invaluable to us. I must say that without ExPix we would have cancelled our flights and missed an opportunity of a lifetime.”

And what an opportunity it was. Not only did Rylan Kindness compete in his first ever BMX World event at FISE China, but he went on to take the win in the Junior competition!

As Rylan who is sponsored by X-Rated Helmets explains, “I’ve been riding BMX for about 4 years now and took part in my first comp in Australia when I was just 9 years old. Whilst we have some really great BMX riders in Australia, we just don’t have anything like the FISE events here or exposure to international competitions of this scale.

It was very overwhelming once we arrived in China and saw just how big the event was. The crowds were massive and so were the ramps! I was really nervous but the Chinese audience was very accepting and made us all feel very welcome and the pro riders in particular were very encouraging, friendly and helpful to me, so I soon relaxed as the vibe of the comp was so much fun.

It felt amazing to be able to ride this comp and then to win.  I managed to pull off 2 clean runs without any crashes during qualifications and finals and I think that together with the back flips, tail whips and 360s, is what clinched the win for me.”

Asked if he would go to FISE again, Rylan replied, “100%! This was the best comp ever; great staff, amazing riders, fantastic vibe and the people and crowds are just so nice. I would love for FISE to one day come to Australia!

Dad Rob finished by saying, “The FISE experience was more than we could have ever expected and was worth the hard work to get there. A big thanks goes out to all those who helped us to get there, especially ExPix, without you guys we’d never have got there! We’re now planning on going to FISE Malaysia in December”

Jo from ExPix said, “The Events Calendar provides up to date information about events that people can access anywhere in the world. It’s good to know that its working and that despite being thousands of miles away, we could help Rylan and his family access the information they needed. We’re really pleased that the help from ExPix has resulted in Rylan not only being able to compete but to take the win too, that’s absolutely fantastic. Hopefully he’ll go on to do well in Malaysia and maybe score himself an early Christmas present with another win.”
